Halloween '08

This was the first Halloween that Sahara was old enough to consciously do anything, and she made the most of it. Dressed as a ballerina/princess, she relentlessly stalked candy and those who traffic in it. The evening started with a trip to Crossroads for a warm-up trick-or-treating run. We then drove over to Grandma and Grandpa's house and purged their pantry of sugar. Then it was off to the ward party. By the time we got to the party, Sahara was coming off her first sugar high and was flat-out catatonic. But she pushed through it and we had fun with friends. After the party, everybody headed out into the stake center parking lot for the annual Trunk-or-treat (which, if you've never done it, is high density candy collecting meets a tailgating party). Sahara's bag was nearly too heavy to lift by the end. Only the processed carbs coursing through her veins gave her the strength to heave it all back to the car.

OK, I'm embellishing a bit here. We didn't actually let Sahara get too carried away with the candy consumption. And most of the evening's spoils mysteriously disappeared after we got home. Still, it was a happy time for our little princess. She twitched off to sleep that night, visions of chocolate bars dancing in her head (next to Cinderella, Belle and Sleeping Beauty). And when she woke the next morning, the first thing she said was, "I wanna go trick-or-treat!"

P.S. That wasn't really Joe. It was me! As in Tracy. :)
