A Little Vacation

Today Shane had the day off, and we took a little trip to Bainbridge Island, with the help of a short ferry ride. We've taken that ferry before, but the weather was nice today, so we decided to try it again. Despite the sun shining, it was fiercely cold on deck, and even colder at the beach parks we visited. Nevertheless, Sahara had a great time, and kept talking about being "inside boat" and the birds. She loved to watch other boats sail by the ferry as we made our way to the Island.

We capped off the day with a trip to REI downtown, where Sahara discovered the joy of tents. She made her way into one of the larger tents and demanded that we zip it up so could have her own playspace. I would leave her in for a minute or two, then upzip it to check on her, and she stared me down and exclaimed "No!" I guess she didn't want to be interrupted. Of course, we had to drag her away from the tent later, and she kept saying "Tent! Tent!"

So back at home, Shane set up his tent in our front room, and Sahara could hardly contain her excitement. She walked right in with her monkey, and helped to put the monkey to bed "monkey sleep" in the little side pocket inside of the tent. She sure loves to play mommy to her little stuffed monkey.
